Andrew Bays studied painting at Syracuse University under internationally recognized narrative painter Gerome Witkin. He attended graduate school and taught drawing at Wayne State University and studied under Bob Wilbert and John Hegarty. His primary focus is the figure. Often times his paintings focus on a single figure but he also juxtaposes imagery to create new realities and esoteric narratives. After many years of study and contemplation he has been led back to the renaissance for inspiration. He has won many awards for drawing and painting and has been published in the Detroit Free Press and several Chicago papers. He continues to pursue expertise in different mediums and believes that his work is a search for perfection and divinity in common worldly things.
